Terms of Service

Atlas · Effective June 25, 2026

These terms govern your use of Atlas, operated by the Atlas operator. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

The service

Atlas is a personal research workspace for collecting papers, writing linked notes, and — optionally — using AI features. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use it.

Your account

You are responsible for your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You may enable multi-factor authentication in Settings.

Your content

You retain ownership of the notes, papers, highlights, and other content you add. You grant us the limited license needed to host, store, process, and display that content solely to provide the service to you (including generating embeddings for your own search, and rendering pages you choose to publish or share). You are responsible for the content you upload, publish, or share and for having the rights to use it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • upload or share content you don't have the rights to, or that is unlawful;
  • infringe copyright — only add papers and files you are permitted to store;
  • attack, overload, probe, or attempt to bypass the security or access controls of the service or other users' data;
  • use the service to send spam or to harass others.

AI features and your provider key

AI features are optional and require you to supply your own AI provider API key. You are responsible for that key, for any usage and costs your provider charges, and for complying with your provider's terms. AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete — verify anything you rely on. We are not responsible for your provider's availability, pricing, or handling of the data sent to it.

Publishing and sharing

When you publish a note or create a share link, you are making that content available to others and you are responsible for it. You can unpublish or revoke access at any time.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost — keep your own copies of anything important.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Atlas operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service.

Termination

You may stop using Atlas and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these terms or that we must restrict for legal or security reasons.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the effective date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's home jurisdiction.
